Flashbacks from a fan

Today I met Edison working at ShopKo in Sugarhouse. He and Crystal are no longer together. He left school to help his mother. He thinks she is still going to school. He told me Mark and Holly now have a 3 month old baby. We talked about missing Granite. You hear that, ghosts? We miss GHS!

Messing with their mind.

the building may not be full of students, but we can stillhave a little fun once in a while. today there were some district guys here looking at the ceilings that have fallen in over the last couple of weeks. we kept moving their tools around on them, every time the went looking for something it was in a different place. (It takes all 3 of us to move physical things around, so this was no easy chore, especially if we didn't want them to notice). We did notice that the district convienently gives their people all identical cell phones, so we swapped a couple of guys phones (really not easy getting in their pockets without them noticing it, but we did). It was really funny when one guy got a call on the phone he thought was his phone. It took about 3 or 4 times of him telling the same guy that this was his phone, not the other guy's, before he realized something was wrong. Shoulda seen the baffeled looks on their faces when they figured out they had each other's phone, but had no idea how they could have been switched! Ha! Teach them to close down our school.

From the PE teacher

Today went really well. I feel there is a lot more pressure and I better be prepared. I got mad at a teacher because she told me she was taking a $3,000 pay cut and Granite was a waste of money to have 400 students in a building that big. I put her in her place.
But everyone else is great. Im teaching Drivers Ed at ....... and directive studies and PE at ........ Directive studies in teaching students study habits and a part study hall. Can't complain. I think I will like teaching. I get very bored just teaching PE.

Another note from a fan....

Best wishes to all of us for our first day of school. I am having my annual nightmares that the students are wandering around and I cannot check the roll and don't know what I am teaching. I wonder what nightmares they are having.

Comment from a Granite Refugee

We got this in an email from the science teacher that went to an east-side junior high, thought you all might want to see it -
Dear Granite Ghosts, Today I had 7th grade Jump Start. I was assigned a 7th grade class yesterday late in the morning. Can you see me scrambling to get ready for this? I had them this morning in Jump Start. They are pretty cute. They are as lost as I am. I am still figuring out which stairs I take to get me up here to the 3rd floor. My windows face east so I get the full morning sun (my daughter calls this the Halleluja windows) but the blinds work okay. I got my room pretty well organized. No one stops by to chat because they don't know me yet. CA's niece teaches music and does the yearbook. M (custodian) works here but misses talking to C (front office) and T (other custodian) is still on vacation but will be here next week. J (Vice-P) is doing okay. I feel an ache, a hole inside when people talk about Granite; some of the teachers went to Granite as students. I had better stop writing because the automatic lights just went out because I am not moving around in the room (the same thing happens in the restroom which seems weird.)

Fiddler's Elbow

So, you guys are meeting at Fiddler's Elbow on Monday, huh? At 5:00 the Granite Refugees* will be meeting and having a good time going over all the stuff that happened there. We may not be able to leave and meet with you, but remember, we were here for all that stuff. And more! Ahhh, the stories we could tell, but we'd never give away your secrets. We like you too much. But, maybe we'll tell a few of the more public stories once in a while. OK?

*What we call the last faculty here at Granite High.

Welcome

Hi there. We were so lucky that they left this one old computer when they stripped most everything out of the school. We've been watching it go, piece by piece, as the realization that we are going to be alone started sinking in. But, thanks to this old iMac, we can now haunt the entire web. Glad those district people overlooked it.
